It seems like The Beatles and Bob Dylan's discographies are unmatched, although i prefer Dylan's more 'cause he made more music and his songs had more dimensions to them too. There's so much magic that goes into Bob's work, everything from the lore, his personas, the time periods this and that came in and all those shocking moments where he does something completely different to all the things he did before, yet the new music is still as good, if not better. If there ever came someone to reinvent themselves as much as he did, they would probably just end up on the same roads that he was on, doing the same things that he did, but only a little differently.Įven if there came someone that could write as good as William Shakespeare and had the musical iq of Beethoven, i still feel that there is a freshness and creativity to Bob's catalogue that is impossible to capture and make better. I'm wondering 'cause i have a feeling that at this point, Bob has basically done most of what can be done in music. Both Bob and The Beatles have earned a peak status, where on most greatest songwriters of all time lists, usually Bob or Lennon and McCartney are on the top.ĭo you think these people reached a limited peak in artistic quality, or do you think there can be someone to make songs that are better both lyrically and musically? What do you think it would take?
